A student-led team turning years of competitive robotics experience into a training ground for the next generation of engineers.
Where We Started
We are a team of high school students with years of hands-on experience in VEX robotics. Together, we've competed at regional, state, and World Championship levels, mentored younger teams, and logged hundreds of hours designing, building, and programming competitive robots.
We're also graduates of Baltimore Chinese School ourselves. When we were students there, we didn't have the chance to get this kind of hands-on STEM training — and we don't want today's younger kids to miss out on opportunities the way we did. That's what motivated us to start this program: giving BCS kids a real chance to explore their interests, try new skills, and discover what they're capable of.
Now, we're excited to pass on what we've learned. BCS Robotics runs a club and training program for 3rd–8th graders across the Baltimore/Towson area, giving the next generation of builders and coders the same hands-on foundation we wish we'd had ourselves.
Why It Matters
VEX is one of the most widely used robotics programs for elementary and middle school students, recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest robotics competition in the world. Teams design, build, and program robots using a reusable construction system — complete with motors, sensors, and a programmable brain — to complete engineering challenges presented as a game.
We believe every student deserves the chance to try this kind of hands-on engineering, regardless of their background or prior experience. That's why we're focused on providing opportunities and access for younger kids who are interested in STEM education — meeting them early, before they've decided whether robotics, coding, or engineering is "for them."
